Born on January 25th 1990, Priscilla Charbonneau is an emerging self-taught artist from Gatineau, Canada. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is passionate about emotions, their complexity and their sometimes soothing and sometimes terrifying dimensions. Over a few years, Priscilla has made a transition from semi-realistic to abstract art. Abstraction leads her to paint without restrictions and thus to express more fully each of her emotions. Since this allows her to completely surrender to her emotions and to be in closer contact with her feelings and thoughts, her movements become freer, more dynamic and more spontaneous.
She is most captivated by textures and reliefs. She attempts to create textures with acrylics and oils using different specific techniques. Copper ash, water, glass beads and sand are but a few of the artistic media she combines with paint to create vibrant, dynamic and complex effects. She uses a spatula, a paintbrush or a rag, and she does not hesitate to call upon her fingers. Luminosity and shadows also play a major part in the creation of her works. They become a reflection of her life history. They allow her to metaphorically convey the mystery of emotions of different depths. Textures, luminosity, shadows and movements bring to life what is left unsaid. You can thus share her unique moments, her intimacy and her secrets.
